Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
As a Latina scientist, I am aware of the barriers that prevent our community and others to pursue and thrive in STEM areas. Since 2019 I have worked as a volunteer at GeoLatinas, an organization that provides the perfect place to build a more diverse and inclusive Earth and Planetary Sciences.
I have also worked as a Science Communication consultant in Code to Communicate (CoCo), a program offering bilingüal training in coding and science communication to Earth Sciences graduate students with Latin, Hispanic, and Caribbean heritage. In addition, I volunteer in various initiatives aiming to create bilingüal science communication through social media content.

Through this initiative, we provide our members with experienced reviewers to receive feedback on their work in a safe, friendly, and constructive environment. This is a service provided in English, Spanish, and Portuguese that actively runner from 2021 - 2022.
Other roles in GeoLatinas
From 2023 I serve as a GeoLatinas Vice Chair, working on officially registering our non-profit organization, and continuing to support our members and initiatives. I contribute to our English-Spanish translations in partnership with Planeteando and EOS to make science more accessible to the Latin community. In addition, I support our branding and visibility committee aiming to increase our reach and broadcast our members through social media and our website.
